About Ulverstone

Ulverstone is a town on the northern coast of
Tasmania, Australia on the mouth of the Leven
River, on Bass Strait. It is on the Bass Highway,
21 kilometres (13 mi) west of Devonport and 12
kilometres (7 mi) east of Penguin.

At June 2015 Ulverstone had an estimated
urban population of 14,726, being the fifth
largest town or city in Tasmania. Ulverstone is a
part of the municipality of the Central Coast
Council which also includes Penguin, Turners
Beach, Leith, Gawler and surrounds, and Forth.

The bustling seaside town of Ulverstone at the
mouth of the Leven River is a laid-back getaway
with abundant birdlife, family-friendly
swimming beaches, coastal paths and scenic
picnic spots.

Panoramic views of Ulverstone can be seen
from the quirky zigzag gardens in Maud Street,
and river cruises head 7 km upstream for lunch
on the riverbank. There's good fishing to be had
in the river and estuary, too.
