About Tailem Bend
Tailem Bend is a town on the Murray River in South
Australia.
Tailem Bend is located about 100 km south-east of
Adelaide. It is located on the cliffs above the east
(left) bank of the Murray River close to where the
river empties into Lake Alexandrina. The Tailem
Bend Ferry, a cable ferry, operates across the river
to Jervois. Tailem Bend is surrounded by fertile
river soils which are used for dairying, pig farming
and growing grain. The town's main attraction is
the huge Old Tailem Bend Pioneer Village which
has more than 90 historic buildings configured like
a South Australian town from the 1940s or 1950s.
